So, everything depends on what you want, but don’t believe those people who say that making beautiful things requires a lot of time, efforts and experience. You can create something pretty using the easiest techniques.
Usually, when you start working with glass bottles, you already have a clear style, an exact idea of how the finished product will look like. The style may be inspired by the shape of a glass bottle, interesting decorative material or interior, where it should fit in. The main thing is the harmony of the composition. So that the shape, color, texture and size should be combined well. They should complement each other, making the product whole and complete.
When you make a harmonious composition, you should choose the exact style that you want to follow: rustic, wedding, maritime, romantic, etc. The choice of decorative material depends on the style. If you chose the wedding composition, it is appropriate to use lace and exquisite flowers. If you like rustic style, then you should use linen, hemp twine and wildflowers. The maritime style can’t exist without shells, pebbles, starfish and twisted cords. The romantic style implies using decorative ornaments in the form of hearts, bows and roses. The color theme of the composition may require you to have some special knowledge. You can get it in the relevant literature. But it is better to trust your own taste and the sense of beauty. The thing is that everyone has his own unique perception of colors. If you doubt the harmony of the colors you have chosen, try to find the same combinations in nature and in the objects around you. There are no bad color combinations in nature. Do not use more than 4-5 different colors while glass bottle decoration, unless, of course, you are creating something special. Colors can make a composition warm or cold, delicate or screaming, make it bigger or smaller.
It is very fascinating to give a name to a finished piece that you have made. With help of a proper name, you can emphasize its unique character and inform your customers about the exact feeling with which the composition was inspired. This will expand the range of sensations that people will feel during the visual perception of your masterpiece.
Removing labels from glass bottles
Before we start working, the bottles must be thoroughly washed inside and out, it is also necessary to remove all labels from the bottle.
In order to remove water labels easily, place the bottle in a container with warm water for a while. The labels will become soft and they will peel off. Remove the remaining glue traces on the bottle with a sponge using a detergent. The easiest way to remove plastic labels is to pry them off with a knife.
When removing the labels from the matte bottle, it is better to work carefully. Try not to damage the integrity of the matte finish.
Degreasing the glass surface.
Before working, the surface of the bottle should be degreased and washed in warm water using liquid dish soap. Wipe it with a cotton cloth soaked in an alcohol-based solution after that. It can be ammonia, vinegar, or even nail polish remover.
It is not recommended to use glass cleaners. While evaporating they form a thin film on the surface of the glass. It badly affects the gluing of decorative materials to the surface of the glass. The glass bottle decoration can be started only after the bottle is dry inside and outside. The preparation process is very important, it affects the quality of your future workpiece.
DIY Glass bottle decoration idea
In order to make a glass bottle decoration, today I have chosen to use nylon tights. You must be surprised, but trust me, this is a good idea.
We will need:
Any glass bottle
Nylon tights
Zipper
Coins
Glue gun
Acrylic glue and paints
Pair of scissors
Let’s get to work.
Let’s take a glass bottle and remove all the labels. Then take the nylon tights and cut the bottom down to the gusset.
On the bottom, we should also make a cut for the neck of the bottle.
Next put this whole stocking on the bottle.
Spread the stocking on the bottle in any way, fix it on the neck of the bottle with glue.
Decide where exactly on the bottle you want to place a zipper. Then try the zipper on the tights (where you want to place it) and cut them.
Place the zipper on the desired location and attach it with a glue gun to the bottle. Then glue the coins inside the zipper.
Then glue the tights slightly draping in the area of the zipper.
When you have draped everything beautifully, you need to glue the whole piece abundantly. It is necessary to soak the nylon material very good. And don’t forget to dry it properly. It is desirable to put it near the battery. It will make the drying faster. It dries for about five or six hours. As for me, I usually leave it overnight.
