How to make a holiday wreath using only ordinary twigs.
All of us adore how twig wreaths look like. But the price is extremely high. How can we get nice Christmas twig wreaths without spending too much money? The solution is very simple – just make it yourself. Thus we can save a bunch of money.
Try to find a great number of small twigs. But choose them carefully. The diameter and length should be equal.
To create a Christmas twig wreath, we need some dried pine cones. If you don’t know how to dry pine cones, you can read about it in my last post. You can decorate the pine cones as you wish.
Here you can see a fabric strap and a belt buckle. You can make a belt buckle yourself. Just cut it out of cardboard. Or you can just buy it. Usually, it is made of plastic.
This is paint. I used spray paint can. And I chose a golden color.
We can use any beautiful beads of any size and color.
We will also need a glue gun and thin wire.
Just clip the twigs 8–10 inches (20.3–25.4 cm) in length. I gave you the size just as an example. You can choose other size to make your Christmas twig wreaths.
I used the bird-cherry tree twigs. Take the twigs and make a polygon of them. Choose the size that you think is appropriate. First, we will wire the twigs. We do it in order to make a strong base.
We should make several layers of twigs. Use wire to attach them to each other. We do it to make the Christmas twig wreath stronger. After that, you can glue the twigs.
After that, you can use thinner branches and attach them with glue.
Next, paint the whole twig wreath. I used a golden color. I decided to use a spray paint can.
While the paint is drying, we have some time to make a bow using a satin ribbon. The buckle in the photo is made by me. I have cut out a buckle of cardboard and painted it gold. Then I glued sides of the tape and inserted the tape into the buckle.
Next, glue the bow to the wreath.
Then we should attach the beads to the twigs. You can use a thin wire to do it.
Next, take the pine cones that you have prepared before. We should attach them to the wreath. Just use a glue gun.
I painted the pine cones gold as well.
I painted the tips of the pine cones with white paint. It looks like snow.
Add a rope or a wire at the top of the wreath, so that we could hang the Christmas twig wreath on the door.
I have one more idea on how to make a Christmas twig wreath using twigs and pine cones.
We will use long twigs, about 1 meter long. But you should cut all the side twigs at first. Take two or three twigs and join them together. Form a circle. Fix them with thin wire. Then wrap the wreath with other long twigs.
You can choose the size and thickness of the wreath yourself. As for me, my Christmas twig wreath is 35 cm in diameter.
Next, cover all the twigs with colorless varnish. The wreath will immediately look brighter.
I already have a whole box of pine cones. I have prepared them in advance. I dried them in advance and painted them in different colors.
We will attach the pine cones to the wreath. We will use glue.
I decided not to add anything else to the Christmas twig wreath. The only decorations are pine cones.
But you can add additional decorations to the twig base. If you want, you can make a very unique design. As a result, I made a Christmas twig wreath like this. I used bird-cherry twigs and pine cones.
Not a single tree was damaged in the process of making the Christmas twig wreath. I used old twigs that I collected under the trees on my site.
