Paracord bracelets are one of the best tactical and survival items you can carry with you. If you’ve never made a paracord bracelet before, this article is for you. They are not only incredibly versatile, but also easy to make. No matter if you like nature or fashion, the knowledge of how to make fishtail paracord bracelet will be useful for you. You don’t need a lot of tools.

Today we will make a monochromatic fishtail paracord bracelet for survival using 550 paracord with a clasp. The tutorial will have 6 steps. The term 550 means that the minimum tensile strength is 550 lbs. The cord itself consists of 7 inner strands, each of which contains 3 inner strands.

Step 1. Fishtail Paracord Bracelet. Prepare your tools and materials.

What exactly will you need to make paracord bracelet?
10 feet of 550 paracord of any color.
Side release buckle

You will also need:
Lighter
Scissors
Ruler/Tape measure

Step 2. Measure your wrist.

It’s great if you already know your wrist size. If not, then it can be measured with a special measuring device.

You can just simply take the cord and wrap it around your wrist. Mark the connection point on the cord. Place it on the ruler and determine your size.

Step 3. Melt the ends of the paracord.

Take a lighter and melt the end of the paracord with it. Use moistened fingers or pliers to squeeze the melted end to create a thin, strong tip. This tip can be easily pushed between the cords.

Step 4. Attach the buckle to the cord.

Divide the buckle in two.

Take the piece of paracord. On one side, fold it in two and slide it into the buckle hole. Place a loop over the double cord and tighten it. Leave a small end of the cord, then we will hide it under the knots.

Next, measure the size of the wrist from the buckle. Fold the cord in half. This already looks like a paracord bracelet.

Next put the cord into the hole of the second half of the buckle.

Put a loop on the cord and tighten it.

A very important thing. Now you can even try your bracelet on your wrist. Connect the side release buckle. If necessary, increase or decrease the size of the bracelet.

Insert the end of the cord from the inside of the buckle as shown in the photo.

Place the end of the paracord under the cord.

Pull out the cord.

You must have both buckle cords the same size.

You still have the option to resize, make the paracord bracelet smaller or bigger. Connect the two parts of side release buckle to try the bracelet on.

Step 5. Fishtail paracord bracelet step by step. Start weaving the Fishtail.

Various devices can be used to weave paracord bracelets. It is very convenient to make knots.

I make a lot of bracelets and often use a variety of weaving tools. Today, for clarity (you may not have these devices), we will not fix the bracelet. But instead we will continue to weave the bracelet using the Fishtail knot with our hands.
Place the clasp as shown in the photo. Place the loose cord behind the main cord. Then, tighten it.

Next, place the main cord as shown in the photo, tighten it.

Place it under the main cord again. Tighten it.

Let’s continue. As you already understood, you just need to repeat the same movements until the very end. We will do it until we reach the second half of the buckle.

As the knots are tied, the loose end of the cord will be closed under knots.

Gradually, you will knot the entire bracelet. Try to knot evenly.

Step 6. Finishing weaving. Tie the bracelet.

Tie the last knot tightly. And place the cord as in the photo.

Place it between the cords.

The next photo is a view from the inside of the bracelet. Tighten the knot and stretch the cord along the bracelet.

Cut the cord with scissors leaving the tip about 5 mm (1/4 inch). Using a lighter, melt the end of the cord. Immediately press down on the melted tip with scissors or a lighter (metal part) to create a mushroom-like hat. This side of the bracelet will touch your skin, so be careful.
