The technique of decoupage has many fans around the world. People of different ages are interested in this art. With the help of it, it is possible to make a very simple thing, as well as a real masterpiece. You can decorate photo frames, panels, and even the surface of flower pots. And yet there is an interesting decoupage technique where eggshells are used.

The basic principle is that the decoupage is done on the crumbled eggshells. It is not difficult to perform if you pay attention to all the subtleties of the technique. You will get beautiful pictures that, by the way, are the best exercise in decoupage for beginners as well as an opportunity to work together with children.

You don’t have to throw away an empty bottle, you can use it to decorate the interior of your home. The decorated bottle is a wonderful gift for your friends.

Today, together with you, we will decorate a glass bottle in the technique of decoupage. First, let’s glue the eggshell on the glass bottle. Paint and glue a beautiful decoupage napkin.

You can also start by painting the bottle. To paint the glass, it is very convenient to use a piece of sponge. It helps to put the paint in an even layer without streaks. Next, leave it to dry for an hour and then glue the eggshells.

The result will be almost the same, the only difference is the sequence of steps for decorating the surface. You can do the same thing with everything you want: plates, photo frames, pots, caskets, jars, mirrors, plastic and glass bottles.

I used the first way. I like to glue the eggshells directly on the glass.

Tools and materials for decoupage of the glass bottle:

Toothpicks or awl
PVA glue
White acrylic paint
Decoupage varnish

Prepare a glass bottle for decoupage.

Remove all labels from the bottle and wash the bottle well with detergent. If the labels do not come off well, you can put the bottle in hot water. After a while, the paper labels will come off the bottle easily. Don’t forget to degrease the bottle.

Prepare the eggshells.

Soak the eggshells for 1 hour in warm water. Then you need to remove the film that is on the inside of the shell. All eggs have a different number of layers of the film, some have 1 layer, and sometimes 3 layers. Using your fingers, roll the film and remove it. You must remove all the layers. Otherwise, the shell will be ruined. Dry the shells well.

Let’s start decoupage of the glass bottle. Glue the eggshell.

Apply glue to a small area of the bottle, put a piece of the eggshell and crush it with your finger, dividing it into 3-4 pieces. Use a toothpick to adjust the pieces, making a small gap between them. Remove very small pieces because they don’t look very nice.

Then apply the glue on the next section, glue the eggshell pieces and so on. This process is not fast, you can make a break if you get tired.

Gradually cover the entire glass surface of the bottle with eggshells. Then dry it well.

Paint the bottle with the glued eggshells evenly using white acrylic paint. Apply two coats of paint if needed.

Prepare a napkin for decoupage. Napkins usually have two or three layers. Do not forget to separate the napkin. We need the first front layer.

Cut or tear the napkin to match the design. I usually use my fingers to tear the decoupage paper napkin around the edge of the pattern. The edges will be torn – but when glued to the bottle, the transitions will not be visible. If you cut it with scissors, the transitions will be noticeable. Put the dry napkin on the bottle.

Put a piece of napkin on the bottle and use PVA glue diluted 1:1 with water to glue the napkins. Apply the PVA glue with a soft brush from the center to the edges, gently smoothing out the wrinkles and pushing out air bubbles. Lightly wipe the glued pattern with a soft cloth.

I glued the same napkins on both sides of the bottle. I dried it well and coated it with colorless acrylic varnish.
