Today we are going to make a bracelet out of wire and leather. So, this is my exclusive wire wrapped bracelet tutorial for you. On the leather bracelet (which we have already made a while ago) we will attach a weaving of wire. Let’s make a simple bracelet to begin with so that you understand the principle of attaching the weaving of wire to the leather bracelet.

Using this way of attaching the wire you can create many bracelets with different designs. You can see examples of such bracelets below. You can create narrow and wide bracelets, use wire of different colors, come up with a lot of different weaving patterns. So, you can change and add something new in my wire wrapped bracelet tutorial.

In the future (in the next posts) I will show you how to use natural stones (beads, cabochons, crystals) for such bracelets.

Wire wrapped bracelet tutorial. Tools and materials.

For the base, we need a narrow bracelet made of leather. The width of this bracelet is 20 mm. You can buy a ready-made bracelet or make a bracelet out of leather.

We will use the 1 mm thick wire for the base and 0.4 mm for the weaving. I used gold colored wire from my old stock. Apparently, the wire was purchased in China.

The wire will not touch the skin of the wrist, so you may not worry about any allergic reactions. In this case, it is worth paying attention to the quality of the leather. So, today’s wire wrapped bracelet tutorial is very easy to make.

To work with the wire, we need a small set of hand tools.

To sew the wire to the leather, we will need an awl.

We need a 1 mm thick wire folded in half about two and a half times the length of the bracelet.

We can draw a life-size sketch of the bracelet on paper. It will help us in our today’s wire wrapped bracelet tutorial.

Start weaving the wire in any weaving type. Leave a small section (about 5 cm) of thin wire. We will need it later for attaching to the leather.

In the process of weaving, bend the weaving according to the sketch.

We need to weave the wire to the full length of the bracelet. Now we will sew the wire to the leather bracelet on both sides.

You can fasten the weaving to the bracelet at certain intervals. But in this situation, the weaving will overlap and the top weaving will still press the bottom weaving. I decided that I could do without this. This is the main secret in my wire wrapped bracelet tutorial.

Make two holes in the leather on either side with an awl.

Slip the tip of the wire into one hole.

From the back of the bracelet, slip the wire into the second hole. It’s very simple, just as if you were sewing.

Tighten and make a few turns around the thick wire.

Cut off the excess wire.

On the other side, we use the same thin wire, which we use to weave a thick wire. Make two holes in the leather bracelet.

Put the wire through the hole.

Take out the wire through the second hole to the front side.

Tighten and continue weaving the wire.

Let’s continue weaving the wire. Subsequently, in certain places we will use the same thin wire to sew the weaving to the leather. This is the main detail in my wire wrapped bracelet tutorial.

At the points of overlapping of weavings, sew both weavings to the leather.

Before we sew the end of the weaving, we need to think about how to hide the ends. I cut the excess wire and tucked the ends under the weaving.

Now you can fasten the upper weaving to the lower sewn weaving.

Cut the thin wire.

All that’s left is to carefully bend the bracelet.
